Hitting Roadblocks
A few of our groups are hitting roadblocks at the moment. With new people added into the groups the dynamics have changed.
Our worm farmers are creating a google sheet survey asking parents whether they would like a portable worm farm on its own, with soil or with soil and worms. They have also contacted Mitre 10 for advice on materials in the hope that some may be provided for them.
Our scooter mudguard team are creating a single page website and finalising designs. They are also due to work with Dave this afternoon to create some more models.
Our coffee cup team have contacted Fava to see if they are interested in trialling their cups. They are also contacting Ideal Cups to ask for a few free samples that could have logos placed on them.
My Board Mate are making a small website and working with Nerhys' dad next week.
Our plastics group have decided that they would like to initiate the placement of a soft plastics bin at St Martins School. They are making contact with the company.
Tristan's mum has been in teaching the group how to make recycled paper in preparation for them to be able to teach small groups in our school how to do this.

Building a Website
Today we welcomed Mel Opie to S'Mart Tank to teach us how to build a website.
- Today there are a number of free apps that allow people to put together a website without needing to write the code
- What do you want to achieve with your website?
- "Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works." Steve Jobs
- We need to be really clear on what we are selling, who we would want to sell it to, why we are different
- Don't forget that we are kids selling to an adult market, that is a really great point of difference!
- We need to include a small blurb about S'Mart Tank to include in each site (Ms Saxon will compose this)
- What is your domain name? How does this read - be careful!! www.childrenswear.com :-)
- Simple language that is spelt correctly!
- Branding - how will you make your product stand out? Colour, font, logo, language
- We are going to use www.wix.com
This is such exciting learning! Thanks to Mel for her awesome input. We can't wait to see the websites up and running.

Mock Presentations
This morning our S'Mart Tankers ran through their presentation that they will give to our mentors next Tuesday. This was a little scary for some as they realised that they weren't quite ready! It was super valuable to practise so that we are ready for next week. How exciting!!
